As the teacher remarked on emotions and how a warrior fights with them, Ran looked at Xexame from the corner of her eye. She knew that she was making a judgment and jumping to conclusions, but Ran assumed that Xexame would be the kind of warrior whose emotions would get the better of him in a fight.

Shang replied, "Thank you, Sensei, for this lesson." 'I see, so Sensei has the same ability as Henri then? This is getting quite interesting.' Then he looked around him, there was a girl who caught his eye. He had some rudimentary lessons from Henri on how to sense the emotions and thoughts of others. He was rather bemused for this girl was looking at "annoying guy" with a look of apprehension. 'Maybe she realizes that the guy was somewhat like Sensei's example of someone who only listens to his emotions', he thought.

Bartimaeus laughed as he noticed Ran's glance. Xexame did indeed seem to be the type of warrior who would let his emotions run rampant. "That's not to say it's an easy thing to do. Vengefulness is one of the most powerful emotions that a warrior can experience. Tha is why..." He looked around the room, suddenly serious. "None of us can get close to each other. Love and affection leads to pain and anger, two things which are fatal flaws for the warrior. You must let go of emotions altogether."

Shang was relieved to see that he was no longer the center of attention. He adjusted his position so that it would be more comfortable. He stayed attentive and waited for the teacher to continue.

Xexame gave a fairly cocky grin and leaned back a bit. the teacher told the students not to get close to anyone and at first, Xexame thought that it would be an easy thing to do, not getting close, but he soon thought about Hitomi, who he had begun to get attached to. The thought of something happening to her, or any of his close friends began to make him feel unhappy and enraged. His hands twitched a little, reflecting the pain and anger that just imagined. Even his face changed its expression from a cocky one with a grin to one that seemed more serious at the situation. He then breathed out and tried to smile again. He muttered to himself.

"Nah, that would never happen. I don't get attached."

Shang noticed Xexame's change in expression. He felt that Xexame had felt anger and sadness for a short moment and then followed by relief? He pondered upon the possibilities of what could've happened. 'Reading people's emotions is a lot harder than I imagined', he thought to himself.

"You and I both know that's complete and utter bullshit, Xexame. I can smell the fear and uncertainty eminating from every pore on your body. Attachment does nothing but hinder your progress as a warrior. I dared to love once. I will not tell you the circumstances, because even a century and a half later, it still pains me, but she... died a painful death. And I gained nothing from it but more weaknessses." He addressed them all. "As a tempered martial artist, I understand what i am talking about. Please, trust me. Not as your teacher, but as your fellow warrior."

Xexame said nothing but kept the thought that he had no attachment in his mind. He considered himself to be a great warrior, and he made it this far the way he currently is. The attachments that he once had are now gone with the death of his best friend. He knew that he didn't need anyone.

OOC: Sorry, nothing much came to mind so don't criticize me too much on this post.

His demeanor softened. "It's not like I blame each of you. Humans are social creatures. We need one another so that our lives are happy and fuffilled. But the pain of loss does nothing but create anger which clouds the mind and slows the fists." He looked up and his sat alert. "The bell has just rung. Class is dismissed. Meditate on your own until you can replicate the type of ki flow which I taught you today. Once you become proficient at that, try to focus that ki into different areas of your body, starting from large, like your chest, to something small, like your toe. Understand?" He smiled. "Good work. And good luck." He stood and strode over to the door of his classroom and opened it for his students. "Tomorrow we start anew, and please, try to be punctual."
