Tristan Morganthe's Spell Tome
Name: Tristan's Spell Tome
Appearance: Tristan's tome is more or less a normal spell tome. It is about two feet high by a foot and a half long, and is bound in tough, blackened leather. All around the outside of the cover of the book are set lodestones, light gray in color, and inscribed with lesser runes of magic warding, with a large lodestone of the same color in the center of the book, inscribed with an anchor rune to tie the spell together. It is bordered in crimson with Tristan's name inscribed all around the oval. In gold, several inches above, below and to either side of the central lodestone are painted symbols. One for magic itself, one for his family name, and one each for stone and water, his elements. The pages of the book are clean white parchment, now slightly yellowed by time, and it has a marking tassel of wine red cloth.
Effects: This book's primary purpose is of course, to allow Tristan to record his path to power, including any alchemical formulas he may find or discover, any runes he masters, and any spells that he discovers or creates for himself. However, the book does serve another function. The lodestone runes inscribed on the surface of the book create a lesser shield around him which can ward off the effects of spells. As long as the book is on his person, it absorbs 10 points of damage from any spell cast at him, and reduces the duration of any sustained spell for 1 turn.
History: Tristan lived with his parents until he turned 16. For all of that time, he read his parents' collected spell tomes, studying all of the magic theory that they had collected over their lives, and quickly picked up and began practicing many of their lesser spells. When he turned 16, and decided to go to The Sunderlands capital city for training as an academy mage, his parents gave him his own, handcrafted spell tome, so that he would be able to record his progression as a mage, and be protected as he began to practice magic. During the disaster that resulted from him practicing destructive alchemy, which resulted in the destruction of part of the Great Library, the tome saved his life, absorbing enough of the spell to save him.

Re: Tristan Morganthe's Spell Tome
Everything looks good but for the effect I just want to clarify something to be sure. Your tome basically negates 10 points of damage from any Spellcaster technique that would have inflicted damage to him and reduces the turn count of any technique that is used on him by 1 turn. Correct?

mhm, it absorbs 10 damage from any spellcaster technique cast at Tristan, and reduces the turn count of any spellcaster technique used on him by one
