Can a non-targeted character block an incoming attack?

Basically, my question is: Can a non-targeted or designated character block an incoming attack that originally designated another character? By non-targeted or designated character, I mean a creature or character as well.

I do not see why not, If you wish to block for someone or wish to have one of your creatures block for you there would be no problem as long as a dice is rolled.

The answer is: No, they cannot. If three characters and one creature are on the field at the same time and one of the characters or creature are designated as the target of an Attack, Ability, or technique, only a character or creature with the ability Intercept is able to block or become the target on an incoming attack. Special techniques, if approved, may also be used to switch the target of designated characters or creatures.

While on the subject, if an attack is countered, the same rules as above is applied, and a counterattack can only designate the original attacker unless a technique, weapon, etc allows otherwise.
