Jack Skellington
Main
Name: Jack Skellington
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Race: Undead
Alliance: Neither
Homeland: Jack was “born” and reigns as the Pumpkin King in Halloween Town, a land based entirely on the popular human holiday called “Halloween”, located in Phantasmagoria. Halloween Town was created when Halloween itself was created, when the dreams of children formed the people and environment, including Jack and his friends. Mostly everyone in Halloween Town is dead and/or a monster; it is a town of children’s nightmares. Christmas Town, another holiday-themed land, was recently discovered inside a nearby tree, and after a slight mishap involving a plot to kill Santa Claus and taking over Christmas, Jack has become both a friendly face and a menace in the town.
Physical Description[Appearance]: Jack's appearance embodies the fears of the children of the real world. Jack resembles many different common horror images, including a bat, a spider, and, hence his last name, a skeleton; he has a skull for a face, no eyes or hair, yellow teeth, no nose, is made up entirely of bones, and is incredibly skinny. His normal attire includes a black pin-striped suit and a bow tie resembling a bat. He is very tall and has long, thin arms, legs, and fingers. Jack's thin, lanky body and dark clothing make him difficult to spot in darker areas, and in the darkest settings can sometimes be seen as a floating skull. Because he is both an undead corpse and a strange combination of monsters, upon sight Jack looks incredibly frightening; according to the residents of Halloween Town, his status as Pumpkin King, and the fact that he was created by the nightmares of the world, he is one of the most horrifying figures in existence. When more closely observed, however, one can see a kind of innocence within Jack.
Ranking: Independent
Personality: Jack's personality was the result of children's love of Halloween, contrary to his outer appearance. Jack is generally a tall, vivacious, charismatic gentleman — a stark contrast to his undead status — and is fond of grand theatrics, which is likely a significant part of what makes him the best at his trade. He is quick and eager to make new friends, but on that note seems to assume (often incorrectly) that others are the same. Although kind-hearted, Jack has a tendency to be self-absorbed and more than a little oblivious, failing to notice both Sally's affections and Santa Claus's apparent dislike of him. He has a tendency to become fascinated with an idea to the exclusion of all others. Jack also appears prone to mood swings, wherein he becomes depressed at a failure only to become enthusiastic when a novel idea inspires him.

History/Background Story: Jack was created when Halloween was created. His town, Halloweentown, was created by the nightmares of children, brought to life in Phantasmagoria. Jack himself is the embodiment of both those childrens' fears, and their joy felt on Halloween. Jack was the much beloved Pumpkin King of Halloween Town. Every year, Jack brought the joy of fear to the town and the people of the world. He was the most frightening figure in Halloween Town, which is how he garnered his title of king. Eventually, Jack grew bored of the same routine year after year. He sought something different. Outside of Halloween Town was a thick forest, which in reality was Halloween Town’s comprehension of the rest of Phantasmagoria. One day while wondering in these woods, Jack discovered Christmas Town, another land in Phantasmagoria full of snow and toys. Jack learned about the mysterious holiday “Christmas” and eagerly decided to take it over for a year. After sending the leader of Christmas Town, Sandy Claws (Santa), to Halloween Town for some “time off”, Jack assumes the role of Santa and filled Christmas with his own holiday cheer- horror. Meanwhile, the boogeyman, named Oogie Boogie, saw an opportunity to seize the role of Pumpkin King. He and his young cohorts Lock, Shock, and Barrel kidnapped Santa, along with Jack’s love interest Sally, a Frankenstein-type woman, and decided to kill them. Jack’s floating ghost-dog Zero warned Jack, who came back to Halloween Town to face Oogie. Jack defeated Oogie and gave Santa back control of Christmas town.
Eventually, however, Jack grew bored once again of his repetitive lifestyle. This time, however, Jack wandered a bit too far and he and his dog Zero lost their way in the eternity of Phantasmagoria. Unable to find his way home, Jack decided to satisfy his curiosity and explore the world around him. His travels eventually led him and Zero to a curious place called Sentou Gakuin. Not realizing that he wass crossing the border between Phantasmagoria and the real world, Jack told Zero to stay behind and wait for Jack’s call before he approached the school, arriving at midnight, several feet away from the school’s front door.
RPing Sample: Somewhere off in the distance, Jack heard a bell ring. He was standing in the middle of the room called "Interrogation Class" observing the contents of the teacher's desk. He found some graded papers, some pens, and s crumbled-up paper airplane, the remains of some child's boredom. In front of him, the childrens' desks filled the room. Jack approached one and sat down. As he was sitting, observing the view out the window, he heard voices outside the door. The knob turned, and Jack quickly hid in the shadow of the desk he was under. The students entering the room could not see him because of his invisibility. A taller man also entered with the students; Jack assumed it was the teacher. The students filled the desks around him, one, a girl, sitting at the desk Jack was hiding underneath. Jack felt no fear of being caught, only curiosity; he'd never observed a class first-hand. To Jack, this was a great opportunity, so instead of trying to escape, he remained silently under the desk and watched.
The girl sitting overtop of Jack sighed loudly, and he heard her lay down on the desk. She sounded sad. A man's voice, possibly the teacher's, asked her what was wrong. Another voice called the girl Hitomi. The girl, in a slightly annoyed tone, said that she was tired because she hadn't gotten much sleep the night before because she had been working on "something new". Obviously, this young girl was a very hard worker. The fact that she had to suffer now because of her diligence seemed wrong. Also, Jack hated seeing people depressed. Back in Halloween Town, he'd always done whatever he could to make people happy. Why should he stop now? Jack slipped out from under the girl's desk, revealing himself, and faced the girl. Jack smiled at her and bent forward. He took her hands in his dead, boney ones and shook her hands politely, behaving like a perfect gentleman.
"Hello there! I'm Jack! I can wake you up if you'd like!" Jack said enthusiastically. Before the girl could answer him, Jack attempted to wake her up with the best method he knew: scaring the living daylights out of her. He tipped his head back, took a deep breath in, and screamed horrifyingly in the girl's face. He stood back with a huge smile on his face. He hadn't done anything scary in weeks, and it felt good to let out a good screech. Jack bowed to his audience and said "Ta da!" waiting for a response. Jack never once thought of any negative outcomes of his actions. He innocently assumed he was helping.
