Sigh, you would think that with the technology today, they would be able to make computers and other such devices a little less fragile. My computer broke yesterday as in the hard drive supposedly because I shook it too much while i was running to my next class. Luckily, my warranty hadn't expired yet so it is currently being fixed. For future reference, I would like to know what brand of laptops would you recommend. So far, most people have been leaning toward Dell but I'd love to hear from you guys.

Also, in not totally unrelated news, I'm planning on upgrading from my crappy $30 2GB MP3 player. What do you guys suggest in terms of good MP3 players? Preferably not iPods because I hear so many recommendations for them but I doubt they're the best. I think they're just more well known because Apple made the first half decent MP3 player or something like that.

I with you on both accounts, except for the replacing my iPhone. But, I totally understand with the laptop stuff, my hard drive also crashed because it was too fragile, which is a real bother. So, for computer, you really shouldn't lean toward one brand, you should keep an open mind to all laptops. Acer which isn't as well known as Dell or Toshiba makes some very good laptops, as does HP.

On the MP3 player, it is pretty much the same thing, just keep an open mind. There will be plenty that have exactly what you need but are half the price of a Zune or the Apple players because the name isn't as well known.

A PSP or Cell Phone. They've worked wonders for me for 4 years.

For computers, I suggest Dell, Toshiba, and maybe Acer. I've heard good things but I don't think I know anyone that has an Acer.

My advice... get a not so advanced one. I got s top model one and it is too good! it eats through CPU like anything and so always crashes cause it can't cool itself down as the fans are on the bottom. sad times all round!

I am replacing it with a dell. I know they all work, every other member of my family has one and none of them have ever broken down... ever!

@Sara: LOL, a laptop can be too good? Wow... I don't know what to say.
@Jisenki: I can't really get a new cellphone because my parents would make a big fuss about it but the psp seems like a half-decent idea, thanks.
@Dagomis, I've been trying to but I've just had such bad experiences with certain brands that I just can't help being a bit biased.
